Kindergarten & First Grade Program

Kindergartners must be 5 by October 1st.

This self-contained class offers a rich, hands-on learning experience where students grow academically and socially. The day is organized into 5 main learning blocks, along with outdoor recesses fostering friendships and cooperation.

Throughout the day, children will develop early literacy and math skills through reading, discussion, writing, cutting, pasting, coloring, and applied math activities included in every topic. Emphasis on teamwork, classroom etiquette, and cooperative play ensures a well-rounded foundation for lifelong learning.

Parents will be kept in the loop on topics covered and may choose to coordinate additional activities at home but there will not be any required homework.

Supplies: basic materials such as pencils, crayons, notebooks, etc.. A specific list will be given at back to school night.

Block 3 - Rock n’ Run

In this playful and interactive music and movement class, students will explore the magic of music through singing, movement, and hands-on instrument play! Using the Orff Schulwerk approach, children will engage in creative games, rhythmic activities, and storytelling that bring music to life. With xylophones, drums, and other percussion instruments, they will discover beat, melody, and expression in a fun and nurturing environment. Through dancing, singing, and imaginative play, young musicians will build confidence, coordination, and a love for making music together!

Block 1 – STEAM

Students explore engineering and art projects that integrate science, technology, engineering, and math. Through creative problem-solving and the engineering design process, learners develop persistence and the confidence to try new solutions.

Block 2 – Science

Students investigate topics such as the five senses, weather and seasons, plants and life cycles, animals and habitats, the sun, moon, and stars, forces and motion, sound and light, magnets, matter, properties of materials, and Earth and sky. Hands-on experiments, observation, and discussion bring these concepts to life.

Block 4 – Social Studies

Students explore American history through timelines, holidays, important figures, and symbols while comparing life long ago to today. Geography lessons include maps, globes, landforms, bodies of water, cardinal directions, and positional awareness. Civics and community studies introduce rules, laws, calendars, and the roles of community helpers through interactive activities, songs, crafts, and home connections.

Block 5 – Building Character

Students learn and practice character values through stories, crafts, and activities, focusing on showing kindness, telling the truth, self-control, and respecting others.

Kinder & 1st Grade Home-Based Instruction:

To allow parents to maintain their homeschool autonomy we are leaving some topics up to each family. This gives children the space and freedom to learn these foundational skills at their own pace. Topics that parents should direct, which were not formally covered in class, include English Language Arts and Math.

For English Language Arts, some homeschool methods include an eclectic style, full program, or Charlotte Mason Style.

Eclectic: select your favorite curricula to teach each of the ELA concepts.
- Reading programs such as All About Reading or Explode the Code
- Writing/composition instruction using a program like Writeshop or IEW
- Handwriting program such as Handwriting Without Tears or A Reason for Handwriting
Full ELA Program: The Good and The Beautiful or Logic of English
Charlotte Mason Style: dictation and copy work through Charlotte Mason methods like those found in Ambleside Online

For Math, most programs at this age are pretty open and go and very parent friendly. Some popular options are: Math with Confidence / Math You See / Saxon / Singapore Dimensions / The Good & The Beautiful / Zearn

Additionally, parents should incorporate field trips to zoos, museums and other educational outings, sensory play, family read-alouds, reading leveled readers as students are ready, and play-based cooperative learning in a family setting.

Parent directed resources are not provided by and do not need to be reported to Everest Point Homeschool Enrichment.

Summit Solvers (2nd-5th)

Join us in as we will be listening to and reading non-fiction text , and then using what we have learned to create a Stem project! Think weather, animals, magnetism and more! Our creative and engineering brains will be hard at work all year long in this project-based learning course. The course focuses on designing, prototyping, and testing projects through an engineering mindset, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and resilience. This course differs from our 26/27 STEM course and may be repeated.

Math Quest (2nd-5th)

A lively, strategy‑packed class where students strengthen math skills through play, puzzles, and friendly competition. Each week features hands-on games that build number sense, logic, and flexible thinking—ranging from quick mental‑math challenges to team‑based problem‑solving activities. Students learn to spot patterns, try new strategies, and explain their thinking, all while having fun and building confidence. This class is energetic, low‑pressure, and perfect for students who love games or need a fresh, engaging way to practice math.

Sound Explorers: Choir & Instrument Ensemble (2nd-5th)

Music is an adventure! In Summit Sound Explorers, students sing, play instruments, and create music together while exploring rhythms and melodies from around the world. Using xylophones, drums, and a variety of percussion instruments, students learn through the playful and collaborative approach of Orff Schulwerk. Students will develop vocal skills (as in a choir!), instrumental technique, and ensemble musicianship through singing, movement, games, and creative activities. Improvisation and teamwork help build confidence, coordination, and listening skills as students discover the joy of making music together. This course differs from our 26/27 Music course and may be repeated.

Artistic Journeys (2nd-5th)

Dive into the world of art history and unleash your creativity in this engaging, hands-on art class! We will be introduced to some of the most influential artists across centuries, blending art appreciation with practical creation! Each class will spotlight a famous artist and we will explore some of their famous pieces. We will then get to create our own original artwork inspired by the artist of the week. Perfect for any student looking to connect with history through hands-on creation! Join us- your masterpiece awaits! This course differs from our 26/27 art course and may be repeated.

Brick Writers (2nd-5th)

In this creative, hands-on class, students use LEGO bricks as tools for building stronger stories. Each week, they construct scenes, characters, and settings with bricks, then transform those creations into written narratives. Students practice brainstorming, sequencing, descriptive writing, and revision in a playful, low‑pressure environment where ideas come to life both on the table and on the page. The focus is imagination, clarity, and confidence—helping young writers develop their voice while having fun building the worlds they write about.

Story Treks (2nd-5th)

In this imaginative, literacy‑rich class, students dive into the Magic Tree House series and use each book as a launchpad for deeper learning. Students explore history, geography, science, and critical thinking through the adventures of Jack and Annie. Each unit blends reading, discussion, hands-on activities, and creative responses that help students connect the stories to real‑world topics. The focus is curiosity, comprehension, and discovery—giving students a fun, structured way to build literacy skills while exploring the big ideas behind each book.

Discovery Science (2nd-5th)

This engaging, hands-on elementary science class will use Mr. Q’s Science curriculum as a guideline to dive into the world of Earth Science and Life Science (if time allows). Students will explore core topics through lively textbooks (printed) filled with explanations and practical activities. This program emphasizes real scientific concepts, the scientific method, critical thinking, and fun experiments! This class will be filled with learning and lots of fun!

Mountain Melodies (2nd-5th)

Come learn how to play the piano in this interactive beginner group setting. Group piano classes are a fun, motivational way to learn. We will learn on electric keyboards and use the Primer level Piano Adventures books by Nancy Faber. Books and other materials will be provided by the school. Students will have weekly practice assignments; 20 minutes of at-home practice is required 5 times a week. At the end of the course, students will perform during their regular class time for family and friends.

Required Supplies: Bring a pocket folder and pencil to class each day. At home, a piano or electric keyboard is required for practice. Look for a keyboard with at least 61 touch-sensitive keys, like this one found on Amazon: RockJam Keyboard

Yeti Wellness in Action (2nd-5th)

This course introduces health and exercise science, combining structured physical activity with foundational instruction in human physiology, nutrition, and wellness. Students learn key concepts such as major muscle function, cardiovascular and respiratory roles, energy balance, and the effects of healthy habits. They engage in data-informed learning by measuring and analyzing performance metrics (e.g., heart rate, repetitions, duration), applying grade-level mathematics and vocabulary to interpret results. The course also emphasizes self-management, goal setting, and collaboration, reinforcing critical thinking and responsible participation in a structured, active environment.

Innovation Mountain (2nd-5th)

A fast‑paced, hands-on class where students build small, useful creations, tackle fun Dash & Dot and Sphero coding challenges, and take on inventive design and building missions. The focus is exploration, creativity, and learning how ideas turn into real things—without pressure for perfection. Students leave with practical maker skills, growing confidence, and a spark for engineering and design.

Peak Celebrations (2nd-5th)

This fun, curiosity‑driven class uses the themes from the National Day Calendar to spark reading, writing, creativity, and hands-on learning. Each week, students dive into a different national day-such as National Inventors Day, National Kindness Day, National Space Day, or National Pizza Day-and explore the history, purpose, and real‑world connections behind it. Students engage in themed activities like mini‑research projects, creative writing, simple experiments, crafts, and collaborative challenges that bring each celebration to life. The class encourages critical thinking, cultural awareness, and joyful exploration while helping students see how everyday topics can inspire learning.

Summit Skits (2nd-5th)

In this class students bring stories to life through short scenes, character work, and quick performances. Each week, they explore the basics of acting—voice, expression, timing, and teamwork—while creating mini dramas and skits that are fun, simple, and confidence‑building. Students practice reading scripts, improvising, and collaborating in small groups to perform short pieces for their classmates. The focus is creativity, communication, and having a great time on stage without the pressure of a full production.

Cumbres Creativas (2nd-5th)

Cumbres Creativas is a creative, immersive class where students explore the Spanish language through music and the arts. Music is at the heart of the experience, supported by movement, storytelling, visual art, and hands-on creative projects. Students build Spanish vocabulary and communication skills while singing, playing, creating, and expressing ideas in meaningful ways. Through playful exploration and collaborative activities, students develop confidence, cultural awareness, and a love for learning languages through creativity. No prior Spanish experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to explore!

Pathfinders & Pioneers (2nd-5th)

In this engaging and interactive class, students will explore the lives of inspiring people from the past and present through rich, age-appropriate biographical picture books. From inventors and artists to athletes, leaders, and everyday heroes, students will discover how courage, creativity, perseverance, and kindness can make a difference in the world. Students will participate in fun, hands-on activities such as art projects, simple research activities, crafts, writing responses, role-playing, and creative group work to help bring each person’s story to life.

The year will end with a special Wax Museum event. Each student will choose a person, create a simple display, and dress up to present as that individual. Families and classmates will be invited to “visit the museum” and learn from our living exhibits.

Yeti Chefs (2nd-5th)

Yeti Chefs is a fun, hands-on elementary cooking class where students learn basic kitchen skills while building confidence, creativity, and healthy habits. This course differs from our 25/26 cooking course and may be repeated.

Students will practice:

Kitchen safety and proper handwashing
Measuring and mixing ingredients
Safe food preparation techniques (age-appropriate tools)
Identifying healthy foods and balanced meals
Following step-by-step recipes

Kitchen Supplies: All students are required to purchase and bring their kitchen tool kit to class each day. Kiln Creations (6th - 10th)

This hands-on art class introduces students to the fundamentals of pottery. Students will learn basic clay techniques such as hand-building, shaping, texturing, and glazing while creating functional and decorative ceramic pieces. Through guided projects and creative exploration, students will develop foundational skills in working with clay while learning about kiln firing, safety procedures, and the creative process.

Kiln Supplies: All students are required to purchase and bring their own clay kit to class each day. Inexpensive clay modeling tool kits can be purchased on Amazon or at art stores.

Trailhead Test Kitchen (6th - 10th)

Trailhead Test Kitchen is a hands-on middle school & high school cooking class designed to build essential kitchen skills, confidence, and independence. This course differs from our 25/26 Cooking course and may be repeated.

Throughout the course, students will:

Practice proper knife skills and safe food handling
Learn cooking techniques such as sautéing, baking, boiling, and roasting
Apply math skills through measuring, timing, and calculating food costs
Explore balanced nutrition and meal planning
Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization

Ridgeline Reporters (6th-10)

A dynamic, hands-on class where students learn how news is created, how media shapes what we think, and how to spot trustworthy information in a fast‑moving digital world. Students practice reading, analyzing, and discussing real media examples before becoming creators themselves—planning, writing, and producing pieces for a student newspaper. Along the way, they explore headlines, interviews, photography, layout, and responsible reporting. The course blends critical thinking with creative expression, giving students the tools to understand the media around them and contribute their own clear, confident voice.

Summit Builders (6th-10th)

A fast‑paced, hands-on class where students build small, useful creations, tackle fun Sphero coding challenges, and take on inventive design missions inspired by CrunchLabs‑style problem‑solving. The focus is exploration, creativity, and learning how ideas turn into real things—without pressure for perfection. Students leave with practical maker skills, growing confidence, and a spark for engineering and design.

Period 2: Independence Trail (6th-10th) This will be a hands-on class where students learn and practice valuable life skills that will help them reach the peak of success! Topics will include a wide variety of subjects—from interpersonal communication to wilderness survival. Students will also be able to share and teach skills they already know–another terrific life skill! Join us on a journey from basecamp to the summit, learning manners and financial literacy, power tools and home repair, navigation and self-defense, and you will definitely emerge on top!

Independence Trail (6th-10th)

A Spanish Adventure: Passport to the 90s (6th - 10th)

Travel back to the 1990s and learn Spanish through story, culture, and conversation. In this interactive course, students follow the classic Spanish-language series Destinos: An Introduction to Spanish, exploring Spanish-speaking countries as a mystery unfolds.

Through episodes, games, music, and creative activities, students practice speaking Spanish while discovering what life was like before smartphones and social media. The class is open to both new and returning students: beginners build a conversational foundation, while returning students expand their vocabulary and take on deeper language challenges.

Instrument Pop Lab (6th-10th)

In Instrument Pop Lab, students play and perform popular songs by artists such as Coldplay, Bruno Mars, Queen and The Beatles -among others- while exploring rhythm, groove, and ensemble music-making. This hands-on class focuses on percussion and Orff-style instruments such as xylophones, drums, and a variety of rhythm instruments. Students learn how different musical parts fit together to create full arrangements of popular songs. Along the way, students will also learn basic music reading, rhythm notation, and ensemble skills that help them play confidently as a group. The class emphasizes collaboration, listening, and making music together from the very first day

Peak Council (6th-10th)

Students in Peak Council will develop leadership skills, engage in community service initiatives and plan and execute events for the school, like our annual friendsgiving, dodgeball tournament, and spring dance. Students will have the opportunity to run a campaign for a Student Council office or serve on a Student Council committee. They will also produce and publish content for our school yearbook. Students will have a part in developing the yearbook theme, taking photos, and learning how to design pages.

Alpine Enterprise (6th-10th)

In this creativity‑powered class students step into the role of real‑world entrepreneurs. Throughout the year, they develop a business idea from the ground up—learning how to plan, design, build, and budget.

Students explore the essentials of entrepreneurship: writing a simple business plan, designing a logo and brand identity, creating a basic web presence, and practicing smart budgeting and decision‑making. A year‑long scenario guides their work, giving them a consistent “company” to build, refine, and grow as they learn new skills.

Trailblazer Training (6th-10th)

Calling all sports fanatics or anyone who would love to learn a new game or two! This physical activity class is designed to introduce students of all skill levels to a diverse range of sports and recreational games, focusing on fundamentals, rules, and strategy while promoting fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The core activities covered will be Pickleball, Volleyball, and Wiffleball, along with a selection of Various Yard Games including Cornhole, Badminton, and Spikeball. Students should come prepared for an active class with appropriate athletic attire. This course differs from our 25/26 PE course and may be repeated.
